ARCHITECTURE

The ancient Roman architect Virtuvius mentioned that a building should have Beauty (Venustas), Firmness (Firmitas) and Utility (Utilitas). Hence, architecture is said to be a balance and coordination among these three elements, with neither overpowering the other. The practice of Architecture in Malaysia also seeks to create this balance. Malaysia’s construction industry is in great need for technically Assistant Architects/ Technical Assistants who would able to deliver the role.

This programme is a three-year full-time TVET-driven programme, comprising six semesters of coursework with one full-semester of Industrial Training. The Diploma in Architecture is promise to produce holistic, balanced and entrepreneurial graduates through its programme’s design and delivery. The programme will provide graduates with the technical knowledge and design skills to work in the construction industry or pursue further studies in a related field. The programme is focused on the technical-design discipline, and the courses are studio-based with project-oriented learning approaches.

In addition to the discipline core courses, elective courses are offered for the students to explore new interest areas as well as enhance their competencies in the discipline core. To ensure that students possess the interpersonal and communication skills needed to thrive in the industry, teamwork and leadership roles, group discussions, seminars and presentations are embedded in the course delivery and assessments.
